Twifties go hiking to the Overlook in Vernon, NJ Twifties go hiking to the Overlook in Vernon, NJ
A group of Twifties and friends led by Twifties founder Lauren Traub Teton spend this gorgeous October day hiking, with stops for "Yoga Anywhere" led by yoga teacher Beth Nolan, and congenial conversation. Hiker Sue Babudro overshoots the turnoff and spends 45 minutes separated from the group. A search party heads out on her trail, and a happy reunion with explanation ensues. See the 2nd reel of this video where we meet a south-bound through hiker on the trail and check out his hiking gear, and we discuss the use of trekking poles, enjoying our Leki poles.(Get a pair at REI here!) Check out the view from the top, and learn how to recognize the turnoff for the view spot.

Hiking in the Style of JR HuffnPuff with his Sportkilt, MSR Tent, Osprey Backpack, and more.Hiking in the Style of JR HuffnPuff with his Sportkilt, MSR Tent, Osprey Backpack, and more.
JR HuffnPuff (city name of John Michael Hernandez) has hiked the Pacific Coast Trail and is now in process of thru hiking the Appalachian Trail or AT in 2010.

His Sport Kilt (sportkilt.com) for hiking caught our eye and he modeled it for us with a spin. Having hiked over 6000 miles, his choices are unarguable. He shows us his Osprey Atmos 65 backpack and MSR tent. And tells us about the hiking movie he appeared in in - Wizards of the PCT - in 2008 and we see clips.

Hiking the Best Part of the Appalachian TrailHiking the Best Part of the Appalachian Trail

Thru-hiker Dusty a.k.a. Particle hand-picked the yummiest part of the Appalachian Trail for this tenderfoot to hike for three days and guided us. We hiked in Shenandoah National Park, in Virginia, and we agree this was a perfect spot for a casual hiker to taste almost everything the Trail has to offer, minus the despair. First day, hiked 8 miles from Big Meadows Campground to Skyland, then made friends and got a lift back to the campground. Next day, we drove to and parked at Skyland, and hiked 6 miles to the Byrd's Nest 3 shelter for a backwoods overnight. Next day we hiked 4 miles to the rest area at Thornton's Gap and then caught a ride back to the car at Skyland. Don't miss the famous and delicious blackberry milkshakes in Shenandoah. And don't forget to purchase a camping pass. Video by Lauren Traub Teton exclusive for Twifties.TV.

The hiking shoes mentioned are the Asics Gel Trabucos. "If you want the perfect pair of trail runners, look no further than the Asics Gel-Trabuco's." says Michael Lanza in Backpacker Magazine, April 2009. Read the full review here.
